Jobber wins on multi-trade work and phone answering, Skimmer on pool chemistry, and Jobber Connect costs less than Skimmer at four of five route sizes.
Jobber costs less than Skimmer at four of five route sizes.
Skimmer costs less than Jobber only on the smallest route, 60 pools with one tech. Pool Runs costs the least of the three up to 120 pools on two techs, and over 200 properties we price the plan with you. We priced each company's plan with route optimization (Jobber Connect, Skimmer Scaling Up and the Pool Runs core plan) at list price and monthly billing, counting techs as Jobber's paid logins and leaving out add-ons and card fees.

We read each company's pricing page on October 21, 2026 and used monthly billing with no annual term. Jobber adds users at $29 each, and its current promotion is left out. Skimmer's Getting Started plan ($1 a pool, $49 minimum) is for up to 49 pools and has no route optimization or LSI dosing. Pool Runs counts a property only in a month it has a completed visit. Over 200 properties, we price the plan with you, and the match-and-beat promise still applies.

Rule of thumb for this pair
A Jobber seat costs the same whether that tech runs 40 pools or 80, so Jobber Connect gets cheaper per pool as routes fill. Up to 200 pools, its list price drops below Pool Runs from about 120 pools on 2 techs, or 140 on 3 to 5, if you don't need pool chemistry. Skimmer Scaling Up costs more than Pool Runs at every size from 50 to 200 pools, and less than Jobber only below about 70 pools with one tech or 84 with two.

1With monthly billing and no commitment, Jobber Connect is $139 for 1 user, $199 for 5, $299 for 10 and $399 for 15. Grow is $199, $299, $399 and $499 for the same team sizes, and extra users are $29 each. A 1-year term or annual prepay costs less.
2Skimmer's Getting Started plan ($1 a pool, $49 minimum) is for up to 49 pools and leaves out route optimization, quotes, job management, the LSI and dosing calculator and LaMotte. Scaling Up is $98 with 49 locations, then $2 each.
3Jobber added offline work on March 18, 2026, so job forms, notes, attachments and timers save on the phone and sync later. Its help center says some tools, such as location-based timers and reports, need a connection. An earlier staff reply in its community, from before that update, said the app didn't work offline.
4The Pool Runs app completes stops, readings, doses, checklists, photos and videos with no signal and syncs when signal returns. Creating quotes, work orders and invoices needs a connection.
5Pool Runs checklist items and readings can be marked required or photo-required, and the app won't complete the stop until they're done.
6Jobber's Connect plan lists tracking time and expenses. Grow adds automatic time tracking, and Plus adds automatic expense capture.
7Jobber's pool page says techs record chemical readings and treatments in Checklists, which start on Connect. We found no LSI or dosing calculation on its site. Its separate Chemical Tracking feature is entered on jobber.com rather than in the app.
8Skimmer's LSI and dosing calculator, powered by Orenda, and its Bluetooth sync of LaMotte results both come with Scaling Up.
9Pool Runs builds service agreements, estimates, change orders and waivers from templates or your own PDFs, sends them by email or has the customer sign on the tech's phone, and keeps the signed PDF with an audit trail.
10Card and ACH payments in Pool Runs run through Stripe, which charges its own processing fees.
11Jobber's customer financing runs through Wisetack. Jobber's page says it costs 3.9% per transaction and doesn't name a plan.
12Jobber's new QuickBooks integration, rolling out to accounts, imports clients and items once and then syncs one way from Jobber to QuickBooks, so paid status no longer comes back. Accounts still on the legacy integration sync clients both ways.
13Skimmer's QuickBooks FAQ says the integration only sends data from Skimmer to QuickBooks, and changes made in QuickBooks don't update Skimmer.
14Pool Runs has a two-way sync with QuickBooks Online that covers customers, invoices, payments and items.
15Skimmer has shopping lists, chemical-usage reports and, since August 2026, equipment tracking. We found no stock tracking on its site.
16Take a photo of a supply-house receipt and Pool Runs reads the items, quantities and prices. You check them, add them to a truck's or warehouse's stock, and can post the purchase to QuickBooks with the image attached.
17Pool Runs reports also cover revenue, A/R aging, profit per pool and per route, tech payouts, chemical usage and route efficiency.
18Skimmer's service texts are one-way, so replies get an automatic message that the number doesn't take calls or texts. They come included on Scaling Up and cost 2.9¢ each on Getting Started.
19Two-way texting in the Pool Runs shared inbox needs Communications for the number and texts and Engage for the inbox, which together cost $80 a month.
20Communications is $50 a month with a business number, 1,000 texts and 400 voice minutes. It adds calling from the browser and the iPhone and Android app, ring groups, a phone menu, voicemail with transcription and free number porting.
21Jobber's Receptionist answers calls and texts around the clock, books visits from your online booking settings and is included in Plus, from $499 a month for 5 users.
22Skimmer calls $99 the launch price for AI Phone, which its page describes as answering inbound calls, recognizing customers and routing urgent calls to you.
23The Pool Runs AI voice agent comes with Communications. It recognizes the caller, looks up the account and drafts a work order that the office confirms and books.
24Engage workflows start from 24 triggers, such as a paid invoice, an accepted quote or a missed call, and send texts or emails, alert a teammate, request a review, or create tasks and deals. Ten starter recipes are included, and text steps need a Communications number.
25Review requests go out by text, so they need a Communications number as well as Engage, $80 a month for the pair. Email broadcasts are in the core plan.
26Fresh Movers finds homes with a pool that sold in the last 7 to 180 days in a ZIP code, with the sale details and the new owner's name and mailing address, and lead routes turn them into a door-knocking route in the app.
27Skimmer's AI Insights answers plain-language questions about your business data and became generally available in July 2026. Its pricing table doesn't name a plan.
28A property counts in a month once it has a completed visit that month, and Pool Runs offers volume pricing over 200 properties.
29Skimmer's free first month is a limited-time offer on Scaling Up, with a separate 30-day refund guarantee.

Where each one wins
Jobber wins three of these seven questions.
Skimmer takes chemistry and Pool Runs takes QuickBooks. The other two are even, because all three apps now work offline and the next hire costs nothing on Skimmer or Pool Runs.
01Skimmer wins
Which handles water chemistry better?
Skimmer does, because its Scaling Up plan has an LSI and dosing calculator powered by Orenda and brings LaMotte test results into the app over Bluetooth. Jobber records readings in general checklists on Connect, and we found no LSI or dosing calculation on its site. Pool Runs has an LSI calculator and dose suggestions on its core plan but no test-kit integration.
02Jobber wins
Who answers the phone after hours?
Jobber does, with a $29 Receptionist that answers calls and texts around the clock and books visits into your calendar. Skimmer's AI Phone is $99 at its launch price and answers inbound calls. The Pool Runs voice agent comes with the $50 Communications add-on, recognizes the caller and drafts a work order that the office confirms and books.
03Jobber wins
Can one system run more than pools?
Jobber can, since it's built for dozens of trades, from landscaping to HVAC, with 100+ apps in its marketplace, a $99 Marketing Suite and online booking on every plan. Skimmer and Pool Runs are built for pool service only, so if your crews also mow lawns or fix fences, Jobber keeps all of it in one account.
04Jobber wins
Which costs least once the routes are full?
Jobber does if you can do without pool chemistry, because a Connect seat costs the same whether that tech runs 40 pools or 80. At 200 pools with 3 techs, Connect is $197 a month against $307.50 for Pool Runs and $400 for Skimmer, and up to about 120 pools on 2 techs Pool Runs costs the least. Over 200 properties Pool Runs has volume pricing, and we'll match and beat any lower price for the same job.
05Pool Runs wins
Does QuickBooks sync both ways?
Pool Runs has a two-way sync with QuickBooks Online that covers customers, invoices, payments and items. Jobber's new QuickBooks integration, the one new connections get, imports once and then syncs one way from Jobber to QuickBooks. Skimmer's FAQ says its sync only sends data from Skimmer to QuickBooks.

What does the next hire cost?

07Even
Which one works with no signal?
All three apps now keep working without signal. Skimmer's works offline, the Pool Runs app completes stops, readings, doses and photos and syncs later, and Jobber added offline job forms, notes, attachments and timers in March 2026. Jobber's help center says some tools still need a connection.
What operators say
Skimmer rates higher on Capterra, 4.9 to Jobber's 4.6.
Jobber has over six times as many reviews, drawn from every trade it serves. We read both listings on October 21, 2026.
“We used to drive all over town, sometimes doubling back three or four times a day. With Pool Runs route optimization, we shaved almost an hour off every route. My guys are home earlier and we're saving a fortune on gas.”
Jordan WalshOwner · Lakeside Pool Services
“I let my techs optimize their own routes from the app now. They save 20–30 minutes a day and I don't have to micromanage the stop order anymore. It just works.”

What comes up
What do pool owners run into with these two?
We paraphrased these from public threads and each company's own help pages on October 21, 2026, and each one links to where we read it.
1
Working where there's no signal
An owner in Jobber's community asked how to keep working on remote sites, and Jobber has since added offline job forms, notes and timers.
When a Jobber customer said two-way QuickBooks was why they signed up, Jobber's team replied that the redesigned sync is one-way, the same direction Skimmer's FAQ describes.
Skimmer's help center says replies to its service texts get an automatic message that the number doesn't take calls or texts. Jobber's two-way texting starts on its Grow plan.
Jobber's pool page has techs record readings in checklists, and its help article on chemical tracking says that feature isn't in the mobile app. Skimmer points to the same article on its comparison page.
