Pool Service Dispatch Software That Moves a Whole Route
A technician calls in sick and forty pools need a new owner before eight. Reassign one stop, one day, or an entire route in a single action — and let the field find out without a single phone call.

Dispatch Is What Happens When the Day Changes
A pool route is unusual among service businesses in that the schedule barely changes and the assignment changes constantly. The same forty pools are due the same day every week for years. Who drives to them is decided again most weeks — somebody is sick, somebody is on holiday, a new technician is learning the north side of town, a route has just been bought and has to be absorbed into days that are already full.
That is the dispatch problem, and it is not the same as scheduling. Scheduling software answers when. Route optimization answers in what order. Dispatch answers who, and it answers it under time pressure, usually before seven in the morning, usually on a phone.
Done on a whiteboard or in a spreadsheet, the failure mode is predictable. Stops get moved one at a time, one gets missed, and a pool goes unserviced for a week without anybody noticing until the customer calls. Or the move is made for today, nobody records that it should be permanent, and next Tuesday the work reappears on the original technician’s route.
Move One Stop, a Day, or an Entire Route
The size of the change should not decide how long it takes. Pool Runs handles all three at the same speed, and asks the one question that matters afterwards: is this for today, or from now on?
One stop
Move a single pool to another technician or another day without touching the rest of the route.
A whole day
Hand off every stop a technician has on one date — the change most often needed at short notice.
An entire route
Transfer a technician's route in one action from the routes page instead of stop by stop.
Once, or for good
Choose a one-time move or a permanent one. A permanent move rewrites the recurring assignment too.
History stays put
Completed and skipped visits stay with the technician who did them. Only future work moves.
The field finds out
Reassignments sync to the mobile app, so the technician opens the current day rather than this morning's.
The Question Most Dispatch Tools Never Ask
When you hand a route to a different technician, you mean one of two entirely different things. Either you mean just today, because the usual technician is off and will be back on Thursday. Or you mean from now on, because you have rebalanced the territory and this is the new shape of the week.
Most tools only implement the first, which is why route changes have a habit of undoing themselves. Pool Runs makes it an explicit choice at the moment of the move. A permanent move updates the recurring assignment and reconciles the future stops that had already been generated from the old one, so next week matches what you decided this week.
The stops already completed are deliberately left where they are. Reassignment is a statement about future work, not a rewrite of what happened, so your service history still records who was actually standing at the pool.
