CPO certification by state
CPO Certification in Georgia
Georgia requires public pools to have a properly trained operator, and the Department of Public Health accepts CPO, AFO, LAFT and ATI's Certified Pool Technician.
Who sets the rules
The state rule, Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. 511-3-5, enforced by county environmental health offices.
What the rules say
- The operator, or a contract operator, has to visit at least twice a week, and a contract operator keeps a log of the visits.
- The operator's certificate has to be kept on site.
- Apartment pools and pools for the residents of a subdivision are excluded statewide unless a local ordinance brings them in.
Running a pool service business
- Georgia has no pool-specific service licence. Larger projects can need a general or residential contractor licence; secondary sources put the threshold at $2,500.
